Squidoo Revenue Sharing Platform
After over 5 years of activity you probably know a lot about Set Godin’s revenue sharing platform called “Squidoo”.
So I will just tell you only what I like about Squidoo.
In a nut shall, Squidoo is special and different in many ways, it is a great Seth’s example of thinking outside the box. Everything started with Seth’s simple idea that “Everyone’s an expert… about something”.
Squidoo is a platform to use to public articles, we call them lenses, about what you know, love and you are an expert.
So the benefits of creating lenses are:
- You are viewed as an expert on your topic – if you create quality, high value lenses… the Squidoo slogan is “Everyone’s an expert on something”
- Your lenses give you a lot of traffic. If you use Link Wheels to produce traffic for your niche sites, a Squidoo lens is good to have on your rim. Somehow Google love Squidoo
- Your lenses can produce income for you via Google adsense but also via affiliate links. Affiliate marketers struggle with sites which don’t allow affiliate links, Squidoo encourage you to use them.
- You decide how to divide the earnings of your lenses. From the total amount of earnings a Squidoo lens produces, it is your choice how much to donate for high level charities and how much to keep for yourself
- The quality people on Squidoo – as it really is a good community with a high growing rate, you meet interesting people, a good part work as volunteers to help both Squidoo and their members. There are bad apples, sure but the percentage of them is low, and usually they eliminate themselves in the process
- It is an incredible learning knowledge base – you are interested on a topic, you do a search and you will be surprised how many lenses you will get about your topic
- The community has Forum, Squido HQ, and a system of rewording quality work: Lens Of The Day (LOTD) and Purple Star
Squidoo characteristics are as follow:
Squidoo was design from the beginning to be a platform for masses.
This means that you don’t need to be a technical geek to create lenses because they have building blocks with a lot of functionality imbedded in them and all you have to do is to call modules and fill in the blanks.
This is just a snapshot:
The modules can be
- Static: text, link lists, StickyNote
- Dynamic allocated: RSS, Twitter, Blogs, Google news,
- Designed for affiliate products of Amazon, Cafepress, Zazzle, aBay, Clickbank
- Polls, News, Google Map, voting link lists
It is an amazing amount of work already created for us in those modules.
Your Bio and Picture are important, it is a place to show off, you help people to know you and explains what make you an authority on your topics.
Don’t forget that the success of your lens depends on the amount of trust readers have on you.
From SEO point of view the introduction, (the first module) is important as this is the place you put your best key words of long tail key words.
Squidoo makes the effort to make you save-time. The best time-saver is the RSS module, all the time you update your blog, the module automaticaly update your Squidoo lens. So without an extra effort on your part you have a fresh and up-to-date lens.
You want to increase the revenue with Squidoo which is a revenue sharing platform, but it is a trick which beginners don’t follow.
You must promote your topic not you.
People came to Squidoo to find resources, to learn about a topic they are interested in. You can brand yourself in your blog, website, but in Squidoo your lenses must be about your topic.
The best tactics of marketing with Squidoo:
- Establish yourself as an expert
- Use affiliate marketing
- Implement simple SEO tactics
- Some effort for list building
- Put in place multiple streams of income
You can accomplish all of them when you create your Squidoo lenses and by the way, integrating properly the multiple streams of income can be the difference between a hobby income and a real business.
Squidoo is FREE and you can sign on here.
Just to show you a coupe of examples, I give you the URLs for my favorite lenses about Architectural Gothic style:
