Google Winter Clearout

0connect 1 300x225 Google Winter ClearoutAfter a good experience with Google+, which impresses users with its simplicity on User Interface (UL), and integration capability, Google announces a clear out, which will taken down 8 projects.

Some of them are experimental software services just in lab development stage, some are stand alone projects which didn’t fulfill the dream of a simpler, intuitive user experience.

Apparently the clear out is not related with Google+ but in reality they are projects which cannot be integrated under Google+ umbrella, so their life as stand alone projects has no justification.

This is the list:

  • Google Buzz – it is consider a failed Social project
  • Google Wave – it will be ending in a slow motion, it will become read-only, no more sign-ups as of 31 Jan. 1012, and the end of it is schedule for April 2012
  • Google Bookmarks List – this allows Google users to share webpage bookmarks socially
  • Google Friends Connect – this ad social aspects to your website easily using pre-made pieces of code
  • Google Gears –  this allows users to keep web a similar browser functionality offline with no web connection
  • Google Search Timeline – help users to view a history of their search results in graph format
  • Knol – this suppose to be Google’s Wikipedia-like website
  • Renewable Energy Cheaper than Coal – no comment… with it Google wanted to find sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels

The last 6 are just lab projects, I don’t have a time table but they will taken down in maters of month.

I think it is a great idea to integrate Google+ only with great applications, services, and keep it simple.

Until next time be well and well informed.

Why I Squidoo

Squidoo Revenue Sharing Platform

RingoSquid1 Why I Squidoo After over 5 years of activity you probably know a lot about Set Godin’s  revenue sharing platform called “Squidoo”.
So I will just tell you only what I like about Squidoo.
In a nut shall, Squidoo is special and different in many ways, it is a great Seth’s example of thinking outside the box. Everything started with Seth’s simple idea that  “Everyone’s an expert… about something”.

Squidoo is a platform to use to public articles, we call them lenses, about what you know, love and you are an expert.

So the benefits of creating lenses are:

  • You are viewed as an expert on your topic – if you create quality, high value lenses… the Squidoo slogan is “Everyone’s an expert on something”
  • Your lenses give you a lot of traffic. If you use Link Wheels to produce traffic for your niche sites, a Squidoo lens is good to have on your rim. Somehow Google love Squidoo
  • Your lenses can produce income for you via Google adsense but also via affiliate links. Affiliate marketers struggle with sites which don’t allow affiliate links, Squidoo encourage you to use them.
  • You decide how to divide the earnings of your lenses. From the total amount of earnings a Squidoo lens produces, it is your choice how much to donate for high level charities and how much to keep for yourself
  • The quality people on Squidoo – as it really is a good community with a high growing rate, you meet interesting people, a good part work as volunteers to help both Squidoo and their members. There are bad apples, sure but the percentage of them is low, and usually they eliminate themselves in the process
  • It is an incredible learning knowledge base – you are interested on a topic, you do a search and you will be surprised how many lenses you will get about your topic
  • The community has Forum, Squido HQ, and a system of rewording quality work: Lens Of The Day (LOTD) and Purple Star

Squidoo characteristics are as follow:

Squidoo was design from the beginning to be a platform for masses.

This means that you don’t need to be a technical geek to create lenses because they have building blocks with a lot of functionality imbedded in them and all you have to do is to call modules and fill in the blanks.
This is just a snapshot:
sq013 Why I Squidoo The modules can be

  • Static: text, link lists, StickyNote
  • Dynamic allocated: RSS, Twitter, Blogs, Google news,
  • Designed for affiliate products of Amazon, Cafepress, Zazzle, aBay, Clickbank
  • Polls, News, Google Map, voting link lists

It is an amazing amount of work already created for us in those modules.

Your Bio and Picture  are important, it is a place to show off, you help people to know you and explains what make you an authority on your topics.

Don’t forget that the success of your lens depends on the amount of trust readers have on you.

From SEO point of view the introduction, (the first module) is important as this is the place you put your best key words of long tail key words.

Squidoo makes the effort to make you save-time. The best time-saver is the RSS module, all the time you update your blog, the module automaticaly update your Squidoo lens. So without an extra effort on your part you have a fresh and up-to-date lens.

You want to increase the revenue with Squidoo which is a revenue sharing platform, but it is a trick which beginners don’t follow.

You must promote your topic not you.

People came to Squidoo to find resources, to learn about a topic they are interested in.  You can brand yourself in your blog, website, but in Squidoo your lenses must be about your topic.

The best tactics of marketing with Squidoo:

  • Establish yourself as an expert
  • Use affiliate marketing
  • Implement simple SEO tactics
  • Some effort for list building
  • Put in place multiple streams of income

You can accomplish all of them when you create your Squidoo lenses and by the way, integrating properly the multiple streams of income can be the difference between a hobby income and a real business.

Squidoo is FREE and you can sign on here.

Just to show you a coupe of examples, I give you the URLs for my favorite  lenses about Architectural Gothic style:

Webnuggetz Website Review by Antje Cobbett

4 021 187x300 Webnuggetz Website Review by Antje CobbettIf you call up Webnuggetz.com in your browser, you will be greeted by an attractive, modern design in blue and gold.

This comparatively young article platform on the internet has already proven its worth in gold in quite a few ways:

  1. The site is really fast and easy to navigate, the whole concept well thought out
  2. The editor can easily be handled even by newbie writers
  3. Backlinks are easily created
  4. Webnuggetz is easily monetized with your Adsense ID and also supports Amazon and Zazzle
  5. A friendly and engaged team, website owner, editors and writers do everything to support the Webnuggetz community
  6. Many tricks and tips for SEO and how to increase your earnings can be found in various help files
  7. Advertisers can buy space on the site to run their specific ad units – contact Thomas

There is also a quirky and even humorous side to Webnuggetz which makes writing for the site very pleasurable and will give you a smile every so often. A nice touch.

Webnuggetz is not a pushover for article spammers and folks that don’t like to read the terms and conditions. The editorial team will review the articles and an account will be suspended if the article does not comply with the common sense requirements. But there is always some that want to try – don’t, you’ll waste your time.

I personally love Webnuggetz.com for various reasons. As a mobile blogger I am happy to report that I can do most things on Webnuggetz from my smartphone if I’m out of the office or at the beach and I totally love the link creation facility, it’s so easy to do and really nicely presented. This link facility enables me to present any link with picture to articles I’ve written on other article platforms or a link to my blogs or the various blog posts, it all counts as backlinks and is certainly super useful if one is creating a so-called Link Wheel.

As I’m personally not involved with Amazon or Zazzle, I simply submitted my Adsense ID and if I understand correctly, the management of Webnuggetz lets us keep 100% of the revenue which is unusual, but very nice! If you have an Amazon or Zazzle account, just follow the instructions and implement your links to those sites.

The only thing and I mean really the only thing I’m not very happy about on Webnuggetz is the formatting and presentation of the finished articles. I would like to see the possibility of being able to add a more modern typeface, even Ariel would be ok, and an easier to read paragraph formatting. But I’m sure in time a more powerful editor software will be implemented.

Having said that, I’ve noticed that we are allowed to use HTML and so maybe one day I shall dig up my knowledge again on the HTML formatting options and add the code myself. I’ve just seen a recipe on Webnuggetz very nicely formatted.

You can also add pictures and YouTube videos to your articles which makes them “more valuable” to Google.

And last not least, you can easily network and share your article to the best social networks available. The buttons to them are available under each article.

From here, a great “Thank You” to Webnuggetz.com and Thomas and his team!

What is a Revenue Share Writing Site?

G001 Share Revenue Sites

Writing articles

For many people writing is a hobby, from others a source of income, some like to share their technical knowledge, so for all of them making money on Internet is at least a great incentive.
We do this with: Share Revenue Sites, and/or Monetizing Blogs

As the number of Share Revenue Sites is growing rapidly, I am thinking that a list of the best sites is a help, can cut research time, and can be a guide in the jungle.
So I create an entire category for them, I’ll take one at a time, and if you will stick with me you will get details about all of them… in time.

A revenue share site is allowing you to write articles to post on it and when the site produces money some percentage is distributed to the authors.

0affmarketing072 300x185 Share Revenue SitesYou, the author, can earn money via:

  • Adsense
  • Affiliate links
  • On performance
  • Flat rate

In this post I share a list of them, I chose the most used and loved sites, but they are more then what I published here:

  1. Allvoices: here you will get paid based on performance page views
  2. Associated Content: you can write articles, or submit photos, and get paid when people view your articles
  3. Blogger Party:  you can earn through adsense

  8. Knol: being a site created by Google, you earn 100% through adsense (similar with Squidoo and HubPages)
  9. Oondi: you earn through adsense
  10. Redgage: you earn through performance
  11. Senserely: you earn through adsense

  13. Squidoo: you earn through adsense and affiliate links
  14. Suite 101: you get paid when people read your articles
  15. Trendhunter: you earn through adsense (50% is yours) when you get your trend on the first page, so it is by performance as well.
  16. Triond: it has many sites and places, so they place your article on a relevant site. You earn through adsense (50% is yours)
  17. Xomba: you earn through adsense and referral

The Commitment

DSCN1576 300x225 The CommitmentEven though I am told that is a mistake to make commitments, I do it for fair and practical reasons.

I want you, my reader, to know me better, to share the purpose of this blog, and to inspire you to follow if happen to be part of your purpose of using Internet Marketing.

So we all love to use Social Media, the Networks, Bookmarking Sites, and yes, the Blogs. All of us want more traffic even though is harder to get it now. Under the nice excuse, that they improve the web, Google continues to change/improve ranking algorithm which now is a fat cat with a couple of hundreds of parameters… we will never know all of the.
I am not worry about this now, as not all the parameters are equally important.

In the last 2-3 years  the number of Social Media sites have grown tremendously and, in my view, is a mistake to spread to thin and go in hundreds of them.  This being said, which sites we must follow?
This decision is based on a numbers of factors:

  • your niche
  • your purpose on using on-line marketing
  • you have your own products, or you advertize affiliate programs, or both
  • your PC skills, as not all platforms are easy to use
  • your want free sites, or paid, or both

I don’t want to give firm recipes, this is not grandma pie, and each of us is different, but I want to give you my thoughts which come from experience of using them.

First we have to use the trends as Internet Marketing is so rapidly growing that at some point looks like a volatile environment. If you are happy with what you know now, your wages, your sales,  and you don’t get along with new marketing trends, learn new technologies and methods… I guaranty you that after 2 years you will be out of marketing.

Trends in marketing are very important. I consider Google+ a great Platform which has emerged  this summer, but what they already created, and looking at their development plan for future, I am confident that we cannot be successful without it. I create a  “How to” type of digital product which will be in place in a couple of days, and this is the Blog to support that publication.

But it is more.

Second, I want the conversation to continue, to learn from each other, and to extend the conversation to

  • other Social Networking platforms we already use, and they are successful, and
  • new platforms which are promising as at creation they already use the experience we inherited from old platforms
  • revenue sharing platforms, as monetize the Blogs and Sites is another main concern

Third, Revenue Sharing Platforms: which they are, tips, small tutorials, experience so far.

Until next time be well and well informed.
